EARLY PICK-UP

Early pick-up must be completed by 2:45 p.m. 

After 2:45 p.m., we begin preparing for dismissal and cannot accommodate early pick-up requests. 

Important: Early pick-up does not change a student's regular dismissal plan unless the family has communicated a change according to school procedures. 

THREE DISMISSAL AREAS

1. Parent Pick-Up 

Regular parent/family pick-up takes place at the playground. 

2. Bus Dismissal 

Students riding the bus will exit through the East Side Bus Gate. Our bus schedule and dismissal routines are carefully coordinated to keep all students safe. 

If your child is assigned to a bus, please plan for them to follow their regular bus dismissal plan each day. 

If you need to make a change to your child’s dismissal: 

• Please notify Coach E by 2:30 PM. 

• If your child will not be taking the bus, please pick them up at least 30 minutes before the bus is scheduled to depart. 

• Once students are in the bus dismissal process, we may not be able to accommodate last-minute changes.

3. After-School Programs 

Students attending after-school programs will follow the program's dismissal procedures. 

For questions about after-school care, please contact your program's designated Point of Contact (POC). 

ATTENDANCE & ABSENCES

If your child is absent, please notify: 

• Shirley Chisholm Elementary: ShirleyChisholmES@k12.dc.gov 

• Your child's teacher 

Please also upload any required absence documentation in ASPEN. 

Keeping attendance information updated helps us accurately track student attendance and ensure we know where every Champion is each day.
